What to expect your bridesmaids to do on your big day
Your bridesmaids are more than just a group of ladies that you choose to look gorgeous in all your photos. They are also a support network to the bride too. They are there to make sure that the bride feels calm as well as having everything she needs.
Asking someone to be your bridesmaid is a big honour for them, however, they should definitely understand what will be expected of them throughout the run up to the wedding and the big day itself. To help you along your way, we have put together some of the things to expect from your bridesmaids on your big day.
The run up
Whilst the main tasks of any bridesmaids are during the big day itself, there are also plenty of things for these special ladies to do during the run up to the wedding. Some of the more creative and crafty bridesmaids may be expected to help out with creating centrepieces or perhaps making invitations. Others may be tasked with helping out sorting through the RSVPs. The important thing to remember is to include them in the planning. They will appreciate being a part of it.
Planning the hen party
With so many other things to plan and think about, no bride should have to organise her own hen party. This is a job for your bridesmaids and one that they should take seriously. Make sure that you make it clear to them the type of things that you expect and would like, otherwise you could end up heading on a hen party that you are going to hate.
Your bridesmaids should ensure that everyone you want is there, that the activities are planned in and that transport and accommodation is arranged too. All those important things that make sure that the big night out goes perfectly.
The big day itself
Before you realise it, the time has come for the big day. This is where bridesmaids come into their own. Bridesmaids should make sure that you have everything that you need for your big day. Many will offer to bring breakfast and snacks to the hotel or house where you are getting ready, as well as having things such as tissues and prosecco on hand too.
They are there to ensure that you stay calm and collected, even when the nerves are kicking in. Some people ask their bridesmaids to stand up and give a reading during the ceremony, and some may even ask them to make speeches. It really depends on your own preference and relationship with them.
Above all else, the bridesmaids are the brides right hand women. Whether it is a lipstick top up, a helping hand heading to the toilet or perhaps someone to dry those happy tears, having these women by your side will make the entire wedding day seem even more magical.
