Weddings can be incredibly expensive. This is something that plenty of newly engaged couples soon find out. Some couples may think that “stuff it” let’s just swallow up the expense the best we can, whilst others will want to have a great wedding, but still keep to a budget.

You might not believe it, but there are some great ways to try and cut down the costs of your wedding a huge amount! In fact, you may even be able to get your wedding planned in as a little as £1k. Especially if you try out some of these top tips.

Do as much as you can yourself

One of the simplest ways to save money on your wedding day is to try and do as much of it yourself as you can. This isn’t always easy and at times you might feel a little stressed out, but the amount of money you can save by tacking those tasks yourself can be pretty impressive.

Cut down on the guest list

Having lots of people at your wedding can be expensive. So, if you want to keep the costs down then you are going to need to cut the guest list down too. Keep the invites to the most important family and friends for the sit down part and then extend the invites for the evening party.

See if your friends and family have any talents

One thing that people who are getting married will forget is that there is likely to be one of their friends that is a dab hand at crafts or baking or perhaps singing. Why not use the talents of these people for your wedding day? Not only will it give the entire celebration a truly personal touch, but will also save you a whole lot of money too.

Book a simple venue and jazz it up yourself

Even the simplest of venues can be extra special with a touch of magic. This means that you can book yourself a village hall or function room and add in all the touches that will make it your own. Not only does this save you money, but it is also a bit of a blank canvas with which you can really find your theme.

Go simple on the food

Lots of couples think that when it comes to wedding food things need to be fancy. But this isn’t always what your guests will want. You can save yourself some money by getting married later in the day and only serving one meal. Also you can then make that meal something simple such as pizzas or hot dogs. They may not be the finest cuisine, but if there are lots of children in attendance, or tipsy adults, then these are definitely going to be a welcome treat!

So there you go, they may seem simple, but they are some great ways that you can save money on your wedding day, without having to worry about losing some of the magic of getting married.
