Easy DIY wedding ideas for you to try out yourself
The idea of a DIY wedding is becoming more and more popular. There are a number of reasons for this. Some people decide to try out DIY because they want to be able to take full creative control over their big day, whilst some do it in order to save themselves some money. No matter the reason why you opt for DIY, we have put together some of the easiest DIY wedding ideas that you can try out for yourself.
Make your own invites
We love the idea of making your own invites. Not only is it easy to do, but it gives you full creative control over the first thing that many people will be seeing of your wedding. There are so many things that you can do with your invitations, but one that we really like the look of is taking a standard card style and transforming it with lace and buttons. You can stick the lace at the edges of the card so that when it is closed the come together. Then you can use a button, perhaps with some dark twine or string to make it look like it is buttoned together. You are likely to get a little messy doing this, but we think that the end result is really worth the effort.
Use painted bottles as centrepieces
Centrepieces can be tricky, whilst flowers are a popular choice, they may not be unique enough for some people. This is where you can get crafty with a touch of DIY. One great idea that we have seen is to take different sized and shaped bottles and give them a make over with some paint. The paint you use will really depend on your colour scheme, however, gold works really well.
You can then add different types of flowers to these bottle and cluster them together on the tables to create a mis-matched but pretty centrepiece.
Create some fabulous favours
One of the most popular aspects of any wedding that is DIY and handmade has to be the favours. Over the years, favours have become a little treat for your guests during the big day. We have seen a variety of different favours pop up at weddings. Some of the classics include sweets with the date and names on it, bubbles or even a little bottle of alcohol.
Other great ideas that you could go for is some seeds to plant in the garden, a little pot of hot chocolate powder and marshmallows or even something a little different like some homemade cider or wine.
It doesn’t matter what you decide to DIY and what you decide to hand over to the professionals, the thing to remember is that your wedding is your big day and should be a true reflection of you both as a couple.
