Whilst your wedding day is likely to be one of the very best days of your life, it can also be one of the most expensive. The lead up to your wedding day can be stressful and it is likely to put your finances under a massive strain.

This is particularly true if you have some grand ideas for your big day or if you have a tight budget to contend with. So, does this mean that you have to give up your ideas of how you want your wedding day to be? The answer is no. There are ways that you can have the wedding of your dreams, all without it breaking the bank.

Ask for help from family and friends

Traditionally the bride’s family have been responsible for paying for the wedding in full. However, as time has gone by, this particular trend has faded away. The couple are usually the main funders for any wedding budget, although, they can often rely on the support from family and friends if they needed it. If you have something in mind that you want for your wedding day and it is not fitting into your budget, then why not ask if your parents, or sibling could help with the costs. Or failing that, ask for your extended family or friends to all club together rather than buying a wedding gift, donating to your flowers, your wedding dress or the cake.

Taking out credit

It isn’t the ideal approach and for many saving the money is a much better approach. But if you are short of time and need some financial help with your wedding day, then there is no harm applying for a loan or a credit card to cover the costs. Of course, it is advisable to try and take out the best product possible, as a lower interest rate is going to help you to make savings in the long term.

Shop around for the parts that may seem less important

Do you have certain things in mind for your wedding day that are somewhat of a deal breaker? Perhaps it is glamorous flowers, a fancy car or a cake to die for. If this is true for you and there are other parts that are less important, then why not take the chance to shop around for the less important parts, after all, you are not going to mind saving a few pounds on these parts.

As you can see, having your dream wedding, without having to pay for it for years is possible. You just you need to be careful about the approaches that you take when it comes to planning and spending money, with the average wedding costing around £27,000, if you can save money, then it makes sense to give it a good go.
